'Walking Dead' Stars Mourn The Death Of Stuntman John Bernecker

Federal labor officials are investigating the on-set fall that led to the death of a stuntman on the hit television show "The Walking Dead".

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of John Bernecker".

"We are deeply saddened by this loss and our hearts and prayers are with John's family, friends and colleagues during this extremely hard time", the network said in a statement.

On Wednesday, Bernecker died as a result of his injuries, a Coweta County Coroner confirmed to Deadline.

Additional information about the incident was not immediately available.

Bernecker's family and union, SAG-AFTRA, also released statements following his death.

"The safety of our members is paramount", the organisation said in a statement.

"The family of John Bernecker is heartbroken to confirm that John has passed away from injuries sustained earlier this week", the statement said. There's no word if representatives of "The Walking Dead" will appear as scheduled at the upcoming Comic-Con in San Diego.

Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon, posted a picture of Bernecker on Instagram, saying he "will be missed".

"Our production is heartbroken by the tragic loss of John Bernecker", Gimple said.

"The Walking Dead", the often-gory AMC show based on a comic series about people fighting to survive a zombie apocalypse, is filming its eighth season. John's work on The Walking Dead and dozens of other movies and shows will continue to entertain and excite audiences for generations. "We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers". He has also worked as an actor in several films, appearing in bit parts of "Logan", "The Last Witch Hunter", "Goosebumps", and an episode of season one of "True Detective".
