Terror in Egypt as six women tourists stabbed at a holiday resort

Rashed made the comments to TV talk-show host Amr Adib on his programme Kol Youm late on Saturday.

Two German women were killed in a knife attack in the Egyptian Red Sea town of Hurghada, Germany's Foreign Ministry confirmed on Saturday.

The attack occurred at a seafront hotel in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Hurghada.

Abdelaziz said two of the injured were Czech and two Armenian.

Friday's attacks are likely to further impact Egypt's deeply struggling tourism industry - a pillar of the country's economy that employs millions of people.

In an alert on its website, the Embassy urged its tourists not to travel alone in Egypt or visit unofficial scenic spots.

Chinese media outlet The Paper reported that almost 150 thousand Chinese tourists visited Egypt in first five months of 2017, with a sharp year-on-year growth of 94 percent, making China the fourth largest source of tourism for Egypt. "It has not yet been proven whether this was an individual act, a criminal act, an act of terrorism, or otherwise". He rushed into the hotel next door, where he attacked and wounded four female tourists before being subdued and turned over to police.

"Go away, I don't want you Egyptians, you are not wanted", he reportedly shouted. "This will be taken into consideration during investigations regarding the motives behind the attack", said the statement.

The attacker, who had swum ashore, was arrested and questioned.

One hotel guest told the Masry al-Yom newspaper that the attacker shouted at Egyptian hotel staff to clear a path as he targeted foreigners on the beach.
