We are finishing up a hot week across the Commonwealth.

Monday is expected to be clear with a high of 81 degrees and light southeastern winds in Boston, before more cloudy conditions and temperatures in the 60s arrive in the evening. That being the case, we will have to watch those heat index values as well, as they will likely head towards the low 100s, and we may see some heat advisories issued late in the week. Our 3rd heat wave of the year will be possible later in the week -- remember we need 3 consecutive days 90 or higher to achieve "heat wave" status, it may come down to a degree or two! Northwest wind around 5 miles per hour becoming light and variable in the evening.

Summer is in full swing, so expect temperatures on par with a typically hot and humid July.

The low may have enough life to hang on for Tuesday however, it should be gone by Wednesday with only isolated afternoon storms.

Thursday, it will be sunny and hot, with a high near 99, the weather service said. High temperatures Sunday were in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Lows Sunday night will fall into the low 70s.

There is a 30% chance of afternoon showers and storms, though those south of US 82 are most likely to see the rain.

Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 97, the weather service said, and a south southwest wind of 6 to 8 miles per hour.

Friday night: Mostly clear with a low around 78. Highs have been in the 90s since Monday.
