In a meeting attended by CoA members Vinod Rai, Diana Edulji and BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, the CoA approved the appointment of Shastri. Speaking the CoA's decision, Rai said, "We have taken all the recommendations of the CAC for Ravi Shastri as head coach and we will further discuss with him appointment of other coaches".

In a letter to CoA, CAC said, "There have been suggestions that the CAC has exceeded its ambit in going with Mr Khan and Mr Dravid, and that these two legends of Indian cricket have been foisted on the head coach". This has been done even when the appointment of Ravi Shastri as the Indian cricket team coach has been confirmed by the CoA.

It was also reported by Times Now that the financial terms of the support staff would be decided by a four-member committee to be formed by the BCCI. Also, Shastri has made it clear that he is okay with Zaheer planning the course of action for the bowlers in the team and someone like a Bharat Arun implementing them on a daily basis. Ravi Shastri, India's new head coach, meanwhile, is set to get his own support staff as that has been decided "in consultation with the head coach already".

After making all the major decisions regarding the payment structure and the confirmed list of coaching staff as laid by Shastri, the four-member panel will reach to the CoA on July 22.

If these reports are to be believed, the ball is now in the CoA's court and they're expected to sit down and decide on which candidate, or how many for that matter, are fit to take up the responsibility. We also bring to your notice that the mail you had circulated to us saying that we had absolutely free hand in picking the coach of the Indian cricket team. "A recommendation has been made and the CoA has to act on the recommendation, that recommendation will be acted upon in consultation with the head coach", he added.

Dow jumps to record as Yellen signals gradual rate hikes
US stocks closed higher on Friday, with several indexes posting all-time records, led by large gains in the tech sector. The Dow Jones industrial average closed about 125 points higher and hit a record intraday and closing highs.

The CAC outlined that it had conferred with Shastri and only after receiving his consent did it recommend the names of Zaheer and Dravid.

India will play their first Test on July 26.

Asked about the CAC letter expressing "pain" at the perception that appointments of Dravid and Zaheer were forced upon Shastri, Rai said, "CAC has done a lot of correspondences with the CEO and with me also".

But one thing is certain.

"The three members of the committee - Mr. Sourav Ganguly, Mr. Sachin Tendulkar and Mr. VVS Laxman - have executed the assigned task with total transparency, professionalism and commitment to Indian cricket", stated the media release. Similarly, an advertisement for managers of A team and U-19 team will also be released.
