Pakistan air force will back the operation in Rajgal, a far-flung valley that sits on Pak-Afghan border, and which the army considers as one of the few strongholds of militants in the region, Ghafoor said.

General Asif Ghafoor, director general of Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations on Sunday. He said Pakistan had informed the Afghan authorities and urged them to take similar measures on its side of the border. "In Afghanistan, yes, it is getting stronger, but we don't believe it is the same as the Daesh in the Middle East", he elaborated.

Elaborating situation on the Line of Control, Asif Ghafoor said India is committing massive ceasefire violations on LOC to divert world attention from the grave human rights violations and indigenous struggle of Kashmiris in the Occupied Kashmir.

"He said Pakistan and Afghanistan will maintain an open-door policy for cooperation and discussion on bilateral issues to remove" a trust deficit" on the Afghan side.

Incidents of terrorism in Pakistan have shown a drop over the three-year period from 2014-2017, he said.

This is "the most critical area in the [FATA]", said Maj. He said around 1760 joint check-posts were erected with the help of police and other law enforcement agencies to keep vigil on the movement of terrorists in various parts of the country.

Construction of the fence has also caused tensions, as Afghanistan does not recognise the colonial-era line as an worldwide border. He said a considerable decline was also registered in cases of street crime and efforts were at hand to check this trend effectively.

When questioned about the case of convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, the DG ISPR said that the Research and Analysis Wing agent's mercy appeal is pending before the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Jawed Bajwa.

Hoping to secure the border unilaterally, he said the operation would not be easy in the area being mountainous and having tough terrain.

As far as the situation within Afghanistan was concerned, he said that it was a well known fact that the security forces of brotherly and friendly nation were unable to tackle their internal situations.

Giving details about the performance of the Military Courts, he said total 274 terrorists were tried and of them 161 were awarded death penalty.

He went on to say that the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was constituted by the Supreme Court and the representatives of military institutions i.e. Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) worked honestly under the apex court's orders.

"As Rajgal valley is located in rugged mountains, the operation will be hard, but we are confident that the security forces will succeed to clear the area", the military spokesman said. "There is no direct army involvement in the JIT" he asserted, adding that the "Pakistan Army will continue playing its role for the security of Pakistan with other institutions".
