Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said Pakistan shares global community's "growing concern over the deteriorating situation along the Line of Control".

"China is ready to play a constructive role in the issue of improvement of relations between India and China", Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said at a briefing. Our stand is absolutely clear.

BJP, a coalition partner in the Jammu and Kashmir government with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today stayed away from state function at Mazar-e-Shoudha in the downtown, where 22 Kashmiris killed during Dogra rule in police firing in 1931 outside the Central Jail, Srinagar, are laid to rest. "We are very sure of the approach we are taking on this issue", Mr. Baglay said, refusing to be drawn out on comments from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs that have repeatedly repudiated the MEA's comments and have denied the contention that Mr. Modi and Mr. Xi had a substantial conversation on the sidelines of the G20, and Mr. Jaishankar's statement that the stand-off mirrors previous such encounters.

The bloody incident heralded an uprising against the Maharaja's rule and for independence of the Muslim majority state. As per a report in the Times of India, Gilkar went underground after Pandhith's lynching and then later joined Hizbul.

"Pakistan has consistently maintained that the Jammu & Kashmir dispute can be resolved only through realisation of the right of self-determination through a fair, free and transparent plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations in accordance with the UNSC resolutions", he added.

He also strongly rejected allegations by Pakistan that India was using chemical weapons in Kashmir, saying India is against the use of chemical weapons anywhere by anyone in any situation. Baglay hit out at the Pakistani government for reading from Lashkar-e-Taiba's terror script in levelling such allegations and glorifying Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani.

The remarks from both sides come amid rising border tension between India and China. "Those channels will continue to be used", Baglay said when asked about the almost month-long standoff in Doklam. Baglay noted that there were well-established and mutually agreed mechanisms to address differences on border issue as well as tri-junctions. "It is a long border, as you know no part of the border has been agreed upon on the ground". "India wants to take Kashmir and Kashmiris out of the Kashmir dispute and is that not the biggest diplomatic oxymoron of our times", says a message received from Berlin here Thursday evening.
