Following a 1-1 draw with Panama in its opening match of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, the US utilized second-half goals from Omar Gonzalez (53') and Jordan Morris (64') to run out to a 2-0 lead against Martinique on Wednesday, only to have the Caribbean island pull level within 10 minutes.

In the final game of Group B action at the 2017 Gold Cup, the US men's national team put together a much-improved performance in a 3-0 victory over Nicaragua. Due to their scoring seven goals in group play to Panama's six, the USMNT gets the top spot in Group B. The U.S. will face El Salvador, Honduras or Jamaica.

Shortly after the restart, Dom Dwyer earned a penalty for the United States, but his subsequent spot kick was blocked by Nicaragua goalkeeper Justo Lorente. Bruce Arena's team accomplished that goal, defeating Nicaragua 3-0 in Cleveland. Graham Zusi found the captain Alejandro Bedoya on the right flank. Dwyer, who was bidding to become only the third American to score in his first three internationals, sent the spot kick high to the near post where it was saved by Nicaragua goalkeeper Gustavo Lorente.

United States of America did double its lead in the 56th minute.
