Manchester United 'were interested' in Real Madrid's Morata before completing Lukaku deal

Morata was spotted with his new do while training with his Real Madrid teammates in LA - we can only assume they had a field day with it.

United have paid £75million to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton and brought in Benfica defender Victor Lindelof for £30.8m plus add-ons, while the club failed with a bid to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and allowed injured forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic to leave at the end of his contract.

"Now that the Manchester United thing has died down which was held up because Madrid deliberately left United at arm's length because they did not know if Cristiano Ronaldo was going to carry out his threat and leave".

Mourinho is apparently looking to beef up his midfield options for the upcoming season and believes the 28-year-old would be the ideal player to eventually replace the ageing Michael Carrick.

United insisted Lukaku was their "principle target" this summer despite having been locked in negotiations with Madrid since it became apparent that Antoine Griezmann would not join at the start of June.

Mourinho said: "Yes, we have had interest, that is obvious and it's public". "It's the same with Morata, we have to respect the player, the club, the owner, the manager". It's not for us to put a price on a Real Madrid player.

The Bucks County district attorney planned to hold a news conference Friday afternoon to report on all the latest developments. The Bucks County District Attorney's office wrote in a Twitter message that Weintraub would hold a press conference at 11 a.m.

"We have not come to an economic agreement, that is obvious as well".

"And we didn't arrive at an agreement with Real Madrid".

"We have three or four players that only by the end of the year they can be back to football, so we need two more players I would say".

'(We made) offers we thought were fair and yet no agreement was reached'.

"I don't want to be disrespectful and be speaking about the player".

"At least one, but I don't want to say Matic or any other name, because I don't think it's correct to do it".
