ARSENAL are becoming less optimistic over a deal for Monaco's Thomas Lemar, according to reports.

The 21-year-old winger is said to be desperate to join the Gunners and is excited to work under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium. Although, adding the winger could lead Arsenal to allow Alexis Sanchez to leave the club.

But Wenger has something of a juggling act on his hands.

Wenger sees Lacazette playing principally as his main central striker but is mindful of leaving himself short of options at the end of the summer given how Sanchez and Giroud are clearly so unsettled and may leave.

Arsenal are now preparing for the new Premier League season after they had a miserable last season where they finished fifth in the league and missed out on Champions League qualification.

Teen sensation Mbappe netted 26 goals last season to help Monaco beat Paris Saint-Germain to the title while also reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Mbappe himself has been frequently linked with a move to Arsenal and Real Madrid - report The Mirror, and just to get to pre-season with him still involved is a big victory for the Ligue 1 champions.

Dembele, 20, has banged in 32 goals for Celtic in 48 appearances and has been valued at £30m.
