IIFA 2017 takes off with its first Bollywood-filled event

The 18th edition of the IIFA weekend and awards kick started today with a bell ring at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) by Sonakshi Sinha.

While expressing love for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA), veteran actor Anupam Kher thanked IIFA for giving Indian cinema an international platform and a place where all actors get together despite of their busy schedules.

Several number of B-town biggies have already made their heart-stopping entry at NY airport and the pictures of those Bollywood stars are doing rounds on social networking sites.

The IIFA Stomp is a free-for-public Bollywood event which is being held at the Times Square.

The BJD has 117 MLAs in the 147-member Odisha Assembly and 28 MPs (20 in the Lok Sabha and eight in the Rajya Sabha). Amit Shah is also a sitting BJP MLA from Naranpura Assembly constituency in Ahmedabad.

The party never really stops in New York-as Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt rehearsed for their respective performances at New York's MetLife Stadium, Malaika Arora Khan was spotted exploring the NY streets. 36 per cent of NY is immigrants.

A hotel official told IANS that the fandom is unprecedented, but for security purposes they are only letting people with either official badges for events in the hotel or those with room keys go beyond a certain point.
