Heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail possible in Lincoln on Wednesday

A yellow warning of rain was issued by the Met Office, alerting Londoners that severe weather could hit the capital during the Tuesday evening rush hour and overnight into Wednesday.

Forecasters have said that heavy rain will move north through England and Wales in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The warnings come after a spell of warm, dry weather across the country which has brought highs of 31C (87.8F).

Although many places won't see these showers, there is a chance of localised flooding of homes, businesses and susceptible roads.

"As is usual in this type of situation there is considerable uncertainty in the areas that are most likely to be affected".

The new feature is only now available for Maps users on Android, and it pops up when you input directions. Google is constantly updating all its platforms introducing new and innovative features for its users.

Frequent lightning may be an additional hazard with potential disruption to power networks.

"Large hail may be an additional hazard on Wednesday afternoon".

There is now a yellow warning of rain for Herefordshire, Warwickshire & Worcestershire and Northamptonshire from 5pm till midnight on Tuesday.

"There is relatively low confidence in the areas more at risk of intense downpours".

This could lead to surface water flooding, particularly across urban areas.
