A motorist was almost killed when a large metal pipe crushed his van on a Florida highway.

The truck overturned when the driver lost control negotiating a curve and hit a guardrail, the station reported.

The driver of the van, 36-year-old Jesus Armando Escobar, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. As the truck overturned, a piece of metal fell off of the overpass and onto the exit ramp below, where another vehicle was traveling, said troopers. The Florida Highway Patrol said Escobar would have been killed if the metal had landed a foot in either direction.
