Everton will return to competitive action at Goodison Park in 13 days against either SK Brann of Norway or Ruzomberok of Slovakia in the Europa League.

Ronald Koeman's side were one of 25 sides that entered the draw at the third-round stage, alongside the likes of AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven and Fenerbache.

Friday's draw saw 29 fixtures decided, which were split into five groups, with the first legs set to be played on July 27 and the second on August 3.

Brann lead the second qualifying round tie against Ruzomberok 1-0 before next Thursday's second leg in Norway.

The Italian side scraped into the Europa League by finishing sixth in Serie A last season - the lowest position from which they could qualify.

The two teams drew 1-1 at Pittodrie on Thursday, with the second leg in Bosnia-Herzegovina on 20 July (19:45 BST).

In any case both side will be heavy underdogs against Everton, who qualified for the Europa League thanks to Rooney and Manchester United's victory over Ajax in last season's final.

A seven-time European champion, Milan has never won the Europa League or its predecessor the UEFA Cup.

The new recruits face the attractive prospect of a trip to either the Stadion MFK Ru┼żomberok, which holds only 4,817 people, or the 17,967 Brann Stadion.
