5 billion emojis are sent daily on messenger, Facebook says

If you thought 17 July was an important day due to the presidential elections or because the Monsoon Session of Parliament is beginning, you're not wrong. It is the newest themed day on the block but lots of exciting things have been going on around the world!

In anticipation of World Emoji Day, and the upcoming worldwide release of The Emoji Movie, emoji fans around the world celebrated by setting the world's first Guinness World Records™ title for the Largest gathering of people dressed as emoji faces simultaneously across multiple venues.

Emoji expert, Vyv Evans, added: "Emoji is the world's only truly global form of communication so today's fantastically worldwide Guinness World Record attempt has been a wonderful way to celebrate this". In Ireland everyone gathered in Dundrum and it looked like great craic! Apple updated it's iTunes Movies home page to be filled with emojis.

The Desi girl, who had attended most of the awards events in Hollywood in the recent past, chose to give IIFA 2017 a miss. Priyanka was speaking at a special event of her upcoming Marathi production " Kay Re Rascala ".

The Emoji Movie hits United Kingdom theatres 4 August. While Apple didn't show them, there will also be emoji for bitcoin, man in a steam room, various additional dinosaurs, sleds and more. The most common emoji is the one.

It dominates on Twitter and on Facebook as the most-used on both social media platforms.

The Emoji Movie features the voices of T.J. Miller, James Corden, Anna Faris, Maya Rudolph, Steven Wright, Jennifer Coolidge, Jake T. Austin, Christina Aguilera, Sofia Vergara and Sir Patrick Stewart.
