The New Face of Trump's Legal Team Is the Christian Right's Pitbull

That's partly because he's vocally loyal to Trump, a quality the President has shown he prizes above most others.

KILMEADE: When the president is furious in tweets, it seems to make your job harder.

"No, Chris. Let me be crystal clear so you completely understand: We have not received nor are we aware of any investigation of the president of the United States", Sekulow said. "This is an attack on the presidency, that is what this is".

More importantly, Sekulow, an agile lawyer who has argued before the Supreme Court, enjoys high credibility with conservative base voters.

Sekulow has long appeared as a commentator on Fox News and Christian Broadcasting Network, and has burnished his television chops by hosting his own show, ACLJ This Week.

Several years after the Jews for Jesus decision, Sekulow became chief counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice, founded by televangelist Pat Robertson and "dedicated to the ideal that religious freedom and freedom of speech are inalienable, God-given rights", according to the group's website.

That's an important consideration in the months it will take for special counsel Robert Mueller to wrap up his investigation.

In the heated interview on Fox News Sunday, he first asserted that Trump was not being investigated. "He is an exceptionally capable and intelligent lawyer who really knows how to win a case", Staver said. Sheldon Whitehouse told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Monday.

A mainstay of the religious right is the newest member of the legal team advising Donald Trump as he faces investigation into possible collusion between his presidential campaign and the Russian government.

But Sekulow said Trump "cannot be investigated, or certainly can not be found liable, for engaging in an activity that he clearly has powers to do under the Constitution". "And I want to be very clear about this - the president is not and has not been under investigation".

Muslim girl killed in Virginia; police blame "road rage"
Hassanen's mother, Sawsan Gazzar, reportedly told the Washington Post that Nabra was beaten with a metal bat. At around 3pm, the remains of a female believed to be the teen victim were found in a pond, said the police.

SEKULOW: Well, look, there's no question about this, Brian.

"He is a great lawyer who has to defend what is in effect a contradiction in the message of what he is truthfully saying", Davis told CNN's Brooke Baldwin.

Sekulow said that Trump's successful use of social media will be "studied" decades from now. ". And what Jay Sekulow went on to say is that is that that's the president responding to a Washington Post report that included five anonymous sources".

Sekulow also got in some political spadework that offers clues as to the White House's legal strategy ahead.

"He's being investigated for taking the action that the attorney general and the deputy attorney general recommended him to take, by the agency that recommended he take the action".

Using language popular on the political far-right, he has warned repeatedly of a "deep state bureaucracy" out to sabotage the presidency and a "shadow government" led by none other than former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, who was sacked by Trump last month.

"I wouldn't exactly call James Comey a credible witness on this matter, period".

"SEKULOW: Here's what you're trying to - here's what you're trying to do, Chris, and I appreciate that you're - you're trying to push back".

There's no doubt about Sekulow's loyalty to Trump.
