Homecoming nearing its much-anticipated release, folks involved in the project have been doing some press rounds where they are asked not just about the character's fate in the near future but also what is in store for him down the road.

With Sony still owning the rights to the Spider-Man franchise, fans have been wondering if the upcoming film is simply a one and done, considering Marvel is essentially licensing the rights.

Closing out Sony's E3 presser was a gameplay demo of Insomniac Games' Spider-Man. The relationship between the films in Sony's Marvel Universe (still a weird name) has been up in the air, especially since director Kevin Feige confirmed that Venom (played by Tom Hardy) would not be part of the MCU. But recently, it seems that there was a brewing discord between the companies causing fans to worry about Spider-Man being suddenly uprooted from the MCU.

Not too long ago Sony's Amy Pascal made an offhand comment regarding how Spider-Man may never have a solo feature in the MCU again after a sequel summer's hotly anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming.

"And I think the investment that the fans get to feel in being a part of a larger story and understanding what's happening, I think is something that I know Sony would want to emulate", she said.

So far, it looks like Sony will benefit from Spider-Man's placement in the MCU.

"It's like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity". This is a bit surprising, as it was previously implied that Holland's Spider-Man would not appear in the films at all, and it's not certain how it would even work.
