West Ham prospect Reece Oxford has arrived in Germany ahead of a proposed loan move to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.

The teenager became the Hammers' youngest ever player when he made his senior debut in the opening game of the 2015/16 campaign, but has struggled to hold down a first team place since.

Oxford, who can play in central midfield or defence, signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with West Ham in December.

The flammable cladding of the tower has been blamed for the rapid spreading of the fire, which has killed 79 people. The woman, 78-year-old Fatima Jafari , has not seen her husband, Ali Yawra , since Wednesday morning's tragedy.

Gladbach will hope Oxford can fill the space vacated by Danish global Andreas Christensen, who has returned to Chelsea after spending two seasons on loan at Borussia Park.

Oxford is one of the brightest prospects coming through at the London Stadium now, and appeared set to enjoy a rapid rise when, as a 16-year-old, he kept Mesut Ozil quiet as the Hammers won against Arsenal on the opening day of the 2015-16 season.

Oxford spent the second half of the season on loan at Championship side Reading, helping the Royals reach the play-off final as their bid for promotion to the Premier League ended in disappointment in a penalty shootout defeat to Huddersfield.
