Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt moved to isolate Qatar on June 5 over what they say is Doha's support for extremism and use of Qatar-based media to attack them.

Erdogan told Portuguese television this week that he had approached the Gulf state's King Salman "with the same idea for Saudi" after work began on the base in Qatar in 2014. For example, they can import fruits and vegetables from Europe, meat from Australia and dairy products from Turkey, and they would pay more money to get these by plane.

He added that the AKP-government will face difficulties trying to rally support among their supporters who, like most of the Turkish public, see Qatar as a rich country and not an oppressed victim. "The social-fabric of GCC population is being torn apart for political reasons and we will not allow ourselves to be a party to this injustice", he said, referring to the Gulf Cooperation Council which includes six Arabian peninsula monarchies.

There was no immediate indication over why they had been detained or if it directly concerned their reporting from the kingdom. It appears that the AKP government chose to interpret the actions against Qatar as a hostile act against Turkey.

The three exchanged views on the Qatar crisis with a view to immediately ease tension in the region.

The CBQ official said that the owners of Qatari companies were personally managing all matters by remaining in constant contact with Turkish companies to ensure immediate supply of quality food stuff to residents of Qatar.

"But Qatar and Iran have a pragmatic relationship", Juneau says.

For police, fire and emergency crews inside the tower, "it is incredibly emotional working in there", Cundy said. Londoners and others have also donated huge amounts of food, water and clothing, and shelter, to survivors.

The Saudi armed forces and military capabilities are at the best standards, and they have successfully participated overseas including at Incirlik air base in Turkey for combating terrorism and protecting security and stability in the region, the source added.

"The state of Qatar has been subjected to a campaign of lies that have reached the point of complete fabrication", the Foreign Ministry said in a statement this month.

The US relationship with Qatar has always been love-hate.

Since the Qatari crisis started, Turkey has openly voiced support to Qatar, one of its major trade partners and a main source of investment, while criticizing the Saudi-led blockade on Doha as inhumane.

"The United Nations and the US Treasury Department list 10 times as many suspected terrorists and terrorist financiers from the boycotting countries as from Qatar, " Al Thani wrote. The six Arab governments accused Qatar of supporting terrorism, disturbing security and stability in the region, and supporting Iran. So even if Saudi Arabia is not directly involved in funding terror organisations any longer, its role in creating the infrastructure, ideological framework and societal justifications is undeniable.

Relations between the two countries are at their worst in years.
