Man who died during robbery was 'scared to death'

One suspect held the men at gunpoint, while the other took money out of the safe.

Officials identified the 56-year-old man who died during a robbery at a Madison Culver's Thursday.

'There was a certain vileness, a certain despicably about the whole thing because. you had an instance where the victim was scared to the point of death, ' police chief Mike Koval said.

The death is under investigation by the city of Madison Police Department and the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office. Koval said the workers were prone on the floor.

The victim's name was not released.

Madison Police say they are investigating the incident as a homicide, and they are calling for felony murder charges against the suspects.

Christ Edward Kneubuehl, 56, was working on a remodeling project at the restaurant about 3 a.m. Tuesday when two armed and masked robbers entered the store.

Kneubuehl wasn't killed by "inflicted physical trauma", but the manner of death is still pending, the medical examiner said. Our hope is that the perpetrators will soon be in custody and brought to justice.

The suspects did not call 911 or let anyone else do so, nor did they allow the other workers to help the man. "One is said to be 20's to 30's, around 6'3". The second suspect is a black man a little shorter than the other suspect.

A press conference is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
