George informs Pacers he will leave in 2018

George's succinct message might satisfy Pacers fans temporarily, though the much larger question still looms: Will he continue to suit up in IN beyond 2017-18? The Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly have had trade discussions with IN, hoping a one-year rental on a championship-caliber roster could entice him to stay longer.

The past two seasons have been the best of his career.

George, who grew up in Palmdale and idolized former Lakers star Kobe Bryant, offers several qualities that would make his purple and gold uniform glitter. With a neat net worth of $20.0 million and an exciting future ahead of him, Paul George is on a roll. But keep in mind the Pacers have minimal leverage now that George has made it known he's saying sayonara a year from now, so anything could happen. The best-case scenario for IN is getting something from the Lakers, who want to make sure they get George instead of waiting for free agency.

"They're all insane", George recently said of trade rumors involving him.

His eyes are on LA and he wants to become a part of the Lakers.

One source familiar with the talks said a deal could potentially involve multiple players from both sides. If you think he's true to his word, there's no reason to trade away assets.

The most likely scenario, for San Antonio, would be if LaMarcus Aldridge gets involved. Griffin spent this entire season as a bit of a lame duck, and not even James publicly advocating for Griffin to get a new contract could move the needle.

It makes sense for the Pacers to remain patient when it comes to their plans with George.

For the Lakers, who are presumed to be taking Lonzo Ball in the draft Thursday, landing George would be a significant step toward luring other stars as Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka rebuild the team. Miami doesn't have many draft picks to offer IN, as the Heat don't own both of their picks IN a draft until 2022. They're a contending team that might be willing to pull the trigger on a deal, even if it's just a one-year commitment.

That gives them three likely first-round picks in 2018, and possibly between two to four first-round selections in 2019. Considering how many first round picks that Danny Ainge has accumulated, this might be the best offer the Pacers can get. Paul George's net worth is now a cool $20.0 million and sure to grow.

The exception would be if a team firmly believes it is only "a Paul George" away from legitimately competing for the National Basketball Association title.

George is from southern California and would be playing for the team he followed as a youngster.

What if they could land Paul George to fit with some/all of that core? "They aren't giving them the No. 2 pick".
