The 76ers will receive the pick in exchange for the No. 3 overall pick, and either a 2018 first round pick that will be the Lakers pick if it falls between No. 2 and No. 5, or a 2019 first round pick held by either the Kings or the 76ers per reports from ESPN. If it doesn't convey, Boston will receive either Sacramento Kings' or Sixers' first-round pick in 2019; the Celtics would take whichever one is more favorable. If the Celtics felt Fultz isn't the draft's surefire best player, acquiring another pick with the player they crave would be smart and give them a bit more cap room, with a No. 3 pick being cheaper to sign than a No. 1. Over this time, they have had several seasons in which they had one of the worst records in the National Basketball Association.

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to take UCLA guard Lonzo Ball with the second pick.

While the pair of top picks getting swapped was the biggest news of the weekend for National Basketball Association fans, an under-the-radar story broke, claiming George informed the Indiana Pacers he would be leaving the team for free agency after the completion of next season with the hopes of signing on with his hometown Los Angeles Lakers.

"I think he's supertalented, superexplosive", said Cal guard Jabari Bird of Pac-12 rival Fultz following Monday's Sixers workout.

The Celtics have been linked with either Josh Jackson of Kansas or Jayson Tatum of Duke at No. 3, although multiple media outlets reported the team may be willing to deal the pick.

Etta Wilcoxon and Robert Davis, also contended that the agreement to move the tax dollars would violate Detroiters voting rights. The suit, which was filed by D.

Rarely does an National Basketball Association team trade the No. 1 pick in the draft.

What we didn't know about was the exact pick protections for the extra first-rounder that the Sixers sent to Boston in order to move up. "This pick provides us a tremendous opportunity to add another foundational player to our promising core". In return, the Celtics got shooting guard Bill Sharman, who had just joined the Pistons through the dispersal draft following the shuttering of the Washington Capitols franchise. Either way, the Celtics didn't lose much though they could still dangle that privilege for a potential trade deal. "We feel like it's a jump-start for us". Now, Philadelphia's starting lineup looks like Ben Simmons, Fultz, Robert Covington, Dario Saric, and Joel Embiid.

With Isaiah Thomas and Al Horford, Ainge is looking to make a deal like the seven-for-one trade in 2007 that brought Kevin Garnett - and an NBA-record 17th championship - to Boston.

The Philadelphia Inquirer's Bob Brookover is less optimistic about Fultz, a 19-year-old who averaged 23.2 points per game for a struggling Huskies team during his one college season.

After the Sixers were given the third overall pick by way of the lottery, it seemed like everything was locked into place.
