Why wasn't Sidney Crosby reviewed for a concussion after head-first crash?

Crosby, 29, incurred a concussion in the first period of Game 3 of the Pens' Eastern Conference semifinal against the Washington Capitals after receiving a slash from Alex Ovechkin and a cross check to the head from Matt Niskanen in quick succession.

It should be a Game 7 for the ages. On Wednesday night, Washington will host the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fourth Game 7 in 10 playoff series between the two teams, and the first since 2009.

Afterward, Capitals head coach Barry Trotz said his team has been calm since winning Game 3 3-2 in overtime.

Nowinski went on to say that Crosby probably should have been evaluated.

He didn't. His teammates noticed and the Capitals responded with back-to-back wins, extending the best-of-7 series. So, much of the next 48 hours in Washington could be filled with angst, because what could be more "Caps" than clawing back from a 3-1 deficit in the series to force a seventh game on home ice - only to lose it?

For the season series, the Capitals are still plus-5 in goal differential. “Now it boils down to one. "I believe in this group and we're going to rely on our experience". Is Mike Sullivan just protecting his players from the information going public like a lot of coaches in sports do? "Now we have to focus on the second game". Trotz doesnt think itll have anything to do with history.

"Felt fine. Just kind of knocked the wind out of me, but felt fine". Burakovsky then rifled a shot past Fleury at 12:29 for 5-0. Marc-Andre Fleury finished with 21 saves and received little help in front of him.

There were two thoughts running through my head watching an incredible series between the Penguins and Capitals over the past week: (a) I hope this thing never ends; (b) I hope this things ends immediately for the sake of Sidney Crosby, who apparently needs more people looking out for him. “I think theyre the better team right now, so hopefully they play that way. "Based on (Monday) night I don't see any reason why they won't". The Washington Capitals have allowed three or less goals in seven of their last eight games. It's also the last time Washington advanced past the second round of the playoffs.

In other words, Washington had complete control of Game 6.

Concussed on May 1, Sidney Crosby returned five days later and didn't look at his best Monday after crashing headfirst into the boards.

The spotter did not remove Crosby from Game 6, despite Crosby exhibiting what appeared to be a symptom from the league's list of potential concussion signs: he needed a moment to gather himself following the collision.

Not listed is a player's head making secondary contact with the boards, which is what happened with Crosby on Monday.

The NHL released a statement on Tuesday saying that the spotters did not have the authority to pull Crosby because this particular scenario is not included in their guidelines as a "mechanism of injury".

Pittsburgh's defense also played its worst game of the postseason. Turns out they found some.

Just like we all predicted.

Justin Williams has a chance to add to his legend as “Mr. That is something that they will have to clean up heading into Game 7 at Verizon Center.
