Comey - who Trump fired May 9 - wrote a memo memorializing a discussion with the president about Flynn and the FBI's investigation, two sources close to the former FBI director who had seen the memo confirmed to NPR.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said a special counsel's probe of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election would show there was "no collusion" between his campaign and a foreign power.

President Donald Trump has responded with a direct "no, no" to a question about whether he asked former FBI Director James Comey to shelf an investigation into his former national security adviser.

At the time of his ouster, Comey was overseeing the FBI's investigation into Russian efforts to influence the 2016 election, as well as possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

"In fact, when I chose to just do it, I said to myself, I said, 'You know, this Russian Federation thing with Trump and Russian Federation is a made-up story, '" Trump said.

The White House denied the report, and released a statement saying "the president has never asked Mr Comey or anyone else to end any investigation, including any investigation involving General Flynn". "Believe me, there's no collusion".

Comey also shared concerns about Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, before Rosenstein's confirmation, calling him a "survivor". "I think it shows division, and it shows that we're not together as a country".

Comey, at the time, advised the president to go send the request to the Justice Department through White House counsel, rather than contacting him directly.

Harry Styles' Rumored Girlfriend Tess Ward Speaks Out on Dating Rumors
Now, the 27-year-old chef has delivered her first post-Styles interview - to say that she isn't interested in fame. If Tess if Harry's GF, then everyone should be happy for him and her.

Trump's spokesman, Sean Spicer, said others being interviewed were acting Federal Bureau of Investigation director Andrew McCabe, former Oklahoma governor Frank Keating and former senior Federal Bureau of Investigation official Richard McFeely.

The US President also said there was no collusion between himself and Russian Federation.

Miller agreed with the president that Comey is a "showboat", which is another reason he believes Comey may be coming after Trump.

During a speech at the Coast Guard Academy commencement Wednesday, an aggrieved Trump aired his mounting frustrations, declaring that "no politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly".

On hearing of Mueller's appointment from White House Counsel Don McGahn, Trump assembled his senior aides in the Oval Office and gave them a pep talk, casting the probe as an opportunity to refocus on his agenda, a senior White House official said.

The president said he thought the ousting would be greeted with bipartisan support. "You can't let them get you down, you can't let the critics and the naysayers get in the way of your dreams".

"I think it is totally ridiculous".
