With a dummy EVM, Saurabh had claimed in the Delhi Assembly that it was very easy to tamper any EVM.

The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday "demonstrated" the tempering of Electronic Voting Machines in Delhi assembly during a special session of assembly.

All those allegations are expected to come to a head on Friday, May 12, at the all-party meeting the Election Commission (EC) has called in the light of questions raised from all quarters. "The experts of our (AAP) technical team will easily show to the committee that whether EVMs were rigged in the recent elections or not", said Bhardwaj. It said the demonstration on a "look-alike" EVM can not be used to "vilify" those actually used for elections.

He said the AAP is ready to demonstrate before the panel about how the EVMs could have tampered. Poonawalla suggested to the EC to tally the EVM and the VVPAT votes in 50 per cent of the constituencies in the future. He also sought to know why the EC was posing a challenge to the theory of "EVM hacking" when it had "already been exposed" in 2010 that the machines could be tampered with, which led to the use of VVPATs. On that fateful day, a voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) machine attached to an EVM there had shown the vote going the wrong way. It met EC officials and handed over a letter addressed to Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi.

The date for the suggested "hackathon", where politics parties will be given a free hand to try to tamper with EVMs keep in EC strong rooms.

Besides talking about the manufacturing details of the EVMs, ECI's status report also skips the mere possibility of changing the microcontroller, as it is claimed by Kejriwal.

The Election Commission (EC) has invited leaders of seven national parties and 48 recognised state parties to the meeting to be held at the Constitution Club on Friday. However, the Election Commission had said that the same could not be done on a real EVM that is used in elections. "At least if we switch back to ballot paper there will be no apprehensions left", it added. "With this demonstration, it has been proved that EVMs can actually be hacked".

Speaking to Odisha Television Ltd on the sidelines of the meeting, Pinaki said that BJD never joined the Congress or other opposition parties when they approached the President of India on the issue of EVM tampering.

From all India Trinamool Congress's perspective, Mukul Roy demanded reintroduction of paper ballot system.

Asking the legislators to give a standing ovation to Bhardwaj's efforts of "proving EVM hacking", Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said this issue was brought to the Assembly because "it is about the country and democracy".
