Numerous people reportedly want President Trump to hire an outside lawyer to handle the constant crash of allegations against him.

The committee said Thursday it sent a letter requesting material from the FBI and Justice Department related to its ongoing counterintelligence investigation.

"Zero", Trump said, at the joint news conference Thursday afternoon with President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia.

"There is no collusion between, certainly myself and my campaign, but I can only speak for myself and the Russians".

In a moment of high drama yesterday, Democratic congressman Al Green told Congress: "I rise... to call for the impeachment of the President of the United States for obstruction of justice".

Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., said after an all-senators briefing from Rosenstein that the deputy attorney general already knew Comey would be fired before he wrote a memo that the Trump administration initially used as justification for ousting the Federal Bureau of Investigation chief. "Because you look at all of the people on the Democratic side, not only the Republican side, that were saying such awful things about Director Comey", he said.

But during the news conference, Trump contradicted both his own account and that of Rosenstein.

"No! No!" Trump said tersely.

The statute says the attorney general - Rosenstein in this case because Sessions has recused himself - should "give great weight to the views of the special counsel", and inform the Judiciary committees in the House and Senate if he decides something should not be pursued.

"Everybody, even my enemies, have said there is no collusion", he said. You've seen the headlines about President Trump and his policies - but what do they mean for Philadelphia?

Trump is leaving Friday for his first foreign trip, to the Mideast and beyond, and aides had hoped the disarray at home would have been calmed if not resolved, allowing the White House to refocus and move ahead.

But Rosenstein came under intense pressure from Democratic lawmakers to step aside and name an independent prosecutor after he became embroiled in the political fight over why Comey was sacked on May 9, a battle that raised questions of whether Rosenstein was sufficiently independent of the White House.

Trump said he was about to name a replacement for Comey, another move to settle the waters.

Some Republicans in U.S. Congress are beginning to distance themselves from President Donald Trump amid allegations that he shared intel with Russian Federation, sparking speculation that more Republican lawmakers may follow. That Oval Office meeting, held at the behest of Russian President Vladimir Putin, included the Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, and Russia's ambassador to the US, Sergey Kislyak (whose telephone conversations with Flynn led to Flynn's downfall in February).

A day earlier, at a commencement address to graduates of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Trump said no politician in history had been treated worse or more unfairly than him. "You can't let them get you down, you can't let the critics and the naysayers get in the way of your dreams".

Despite initially opposing appointment of an independent counsel, Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan said Thursday that the development "helps assure people and the Justice Department that they're going to go do their jobs independently and thoroughly, which is what we've called for all along". At a luncheon with network television news anchors, Trump intensified his criticism, saying appointment of a special counsel "hurts our country terribly, because it shows we're a divided, mixed-up, not-unified country".

"We're going to have a director who's going to be outstanding, I'll be announcing that director very soon".
