Almirola's No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford smacked the already wrecked cars of Joey Logano and Danica Patrick with 68 laps remaining in the Go Bowling 400, bringing out a red flag. The top of Almirola's vehicle had to be cut away for him to be removed from the auto and airlifted to the hospital.

"With this type of fracture, it's eight to 12 weeks", Almirola told reporters.

Regan Smith will drive the No. 43 Ford this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Almirola sustained the injuries during the NASCAR Go Bowling 400 when he collided with Joey Logano's wrecked auto. "I just slid right into the wreck".

"It's going to be a ton of fun", Bowyer said. "And I promised that I'd be here to walk with him". "There's a lot going on behind the scenes, and pit road reporters have to get the information fast, get counted down, and know who to throw it to. all these things we take for granted watching the race on TV".

"I had no grip, and I assumed that when Danica's vehicle blasted the outside wall that it must have knocked the radiator, and oil and stuff got in the outside groove and it ran down the race track and I was in it, so that's how I ended up in the wreck", Almirola said on Friday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The wreck was a scary one that resonated across the NASCAR community, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. commented on the incident in an interview on Thursday. The vehicle was immediately taken to the Research & Development Center in Concord, North Carolina. RPM has not determined who will replace Almirola when the regular-season resumes next week at Charlotte. Immediately, when I hit (Joey Logano's) auto, it felt like a knife in my back. "It felt like I was on railroad tracks and I was headed straight for the wreck".

"I immediately knew what happened", he said. "I will be meeting with them throughout the healing process, and it will be up to them to give me clearance to get back in the racecar".

Alisher Usmanov makes bid Arsenal takeover
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has called on the club's supporters to demand change amid reports of a £1bn takeover bid. Fan protests have mounted against manager Arsene Wenger with calls for him to leave after nearly 21 years in charge.

Almirola immediately knew he was injured. I got my window net down just based on pure adrenaline.

"This fracture is at a higher level than the injuries that Denny sustained or that Tony sustained". Looking back on the crash, he feels there is nothing he could have done differently. If I stand for too long, it starts to hurt and then I've got to sit down. "As soon as we know for the future we'll be letting you guys know that, but right now we're thrilled that Regan's going to be in the vehicle for this weekend". "I think that is extremely unprofessional".

Almost a week out from the accident, Almirola says he still is in some pain, although it is much more manageable.

It could have been a whole lot worse for Aric Almirola.

However, the 2014 Daytona Coke Zero 400 victor says he is grateful for the opportunity to recover and return to work considering the impact he experienced.

Here are the 8 most eye-opening things Almirola said in a 30-minute media session. "I've crashed plenty of times in a late model coming up and racing in Florida".

In a best-case scenario, FOX Sports is handing over the broadcast of the June 10 NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Pocono Raceway to those closest to the action. I can't really separate my shoulders and my hips. "I'm doing everything I can do". Although it wasn't in a driver's suit, Almirola was grateful to be at the racetrack. I'm not going to risk it. I want to thank our doctors in Charlotte, Dr.
