White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was challenged on a tweet from President Trump about former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper's characterization of the Russian Federation investigation.

"As I've said for the third time, there's nothing further to add to that", Spicer responded. In the last months of his tenure, Mr Comey had announced his agency was conducting an investigation into possible Trump campaign ties to Russian Federation, but was unable to provide much more detail.

Despite broad speculation about a potential 2020 presidential bid, Gillibrand said earlier this month that she was focused on her 2018 Senate reelection.

This is an important exchange.@jeffmason1 pushes again and again on Trump's "tapes" tweet.

But she, nor anyone else in the White House, has provided any evidence that shows the White House sought and received reliable data about the Bureau before President Donald Trump made a decision to fire him.

Spicer said Trump's "robust schedule" means that "sometimes we don't get an opportunity to get in to see him and get his full thinking".

"Are there recording devices in the Oval Office or the residence?"

Spicer: As I said for the third time, there is nothing further to add on that. Trump said. "Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future "press briefings" and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???" President Donald Trump told Jeanine Pirro that he thinks it is a "good idea" to not have press conferences, unless he does them himself every two weeks.

Trump didn't provide further details Friday on whether he was taping conversations.

Spicer: I don't think-that's not a threat. He said in an interview on Thursday with NBC News that Comey gave him this assurance during the White House dinner and in two phone conversations.

While Trump went on to offer praise for deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who has handled press briefings during a chaotic week at the White House, he appeared frustrated with the performance of his top spokesman, Sean Spicer. President Trump's firing of James Comey was a violation of public trust.

In the end, as long as Trump keeps changing the story on so many stories, it is hard for even those who want to defend him to be able to do it.

That explains why Trump demanded Comey's loyalty.

Host Larry Mantle sat down with Politico's Elana Schor and John Wagner, Washington Post White House Correspondent, to help unpack the latest development in Comey's dismissal.

"I can tell you also that Director Comey enjoyed broad support within the Federal Bureau of Investigation and still does to this day", McCabe said, responding to a question about Sanders' comment that Federal Bureau of Investigation officials had "lost confidence" in Comey. "Doing away with the briefings would reduce accountability, transparency and the opportunity for Americans to see that, in the US system, no political figure is above being questioned".
