Ryu gave up another solo home run in the top third, this time off the bat of Christian Yelich. Nicolino turned in a stellar outing in his only previous start against the Dodgers on April 27, 2016, allowing two hits over 7 1/3 scoreless innings in the Marlins' 2-0 victory. The victory was secured by relievers Chris Hatcher, Luis Avilan, Josh Fields and Kenley Jansen, who struck out 10 of 13 batters over the final 32/3 innings.

Turner will have an MRI test Friday.

Bour tied the game with a home run in the top of the second, but the Dodgers were lucky to escape the inning allowing just one run. He hobbled his way home, where he was easily thrown out to end the inning, and was replaced by Chris Taylor at third base.

Justin Turner is the 19th Dodger to hit the DL this season. He pitched an immaculate inning, striking out three batters on nine pitches in an inning. I think it happened after he hit third and was coming around.

Ryu was hit by a pitch on the right bicep in the fourth inning and then took a groundball off the left knee in the sixth inning. The Marlins have now lost 18 of their last 22 games.

"Everyone comes to the ballpark trying to win", Volquez said. Volquez minimized the damage by getting Cody Bellinger to ground into a run-scoring fielder's choice and Grandal to bounce into a double play, but the Dodgers teed off on him in a three-run second. "I definitely loved that hit".

Jansen also recorded his first hit of the season at the plate, with an infield single off the glove of Bour in the bottom of the eighth.

"I've been pitching for 7-8 years and didn't know what that was", said Jansen of the milestone. RHP Kenta Maeda (left hamstring tightness) will throw four innings tomorrow in a rehab start in Class A Rancho Cucamonga and is expected to make his next start next week against St. Louis.

Mattingly will give the ball to the 25-year-old Nicolino, who was 1-3 with Triple-A New Orleans before being recalled last weekend. Alex Wood gets the ball, and he is 4-0 with a 2.27 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season. Volquez allowed just four hits and two walks over his six innings, but Braves starter Julio Teheran was just a little bit better to deal Volquez his fifth loss.
