James Comey Declines to Testify Before Senate Panel

US President Donald Trump has said a new Federal Bureau of Investigation director will be appointed "fast", following the controversial dismissal of James Comey. Later, however, they said that Trump had planned to fire Comey regardless. Trump tweeted shortly before 7 a.m. Friday. "It's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should've won".

Chuck Schumer, Democratic leader in the Senate, has told Trump he is making "a very big mistake"-and has called for a special prosecutor to investigate Trump's alleged Russian ties".

That coverage of the Comey story prompted the Friday tweet storm from the president, who also continued to loudly deny that he or his team had anything to do with Russia's hacking Democrats during the 2016 election.

Comey's firing is one of three causalities of personnel investigating the Trump administration, including former acting attorney general Sally Yates and Preet Bharara, U.S. attorney for the southern district of NY, who was investigating Fox News and would likely have been involved in Trump's unsubstantiated claims that Obama wiretapped Trump Tower at the time of his termination.

"In light of the varied and divergent statements from the White House press briefing room regarding the firing of both former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and former FBI Director James Comey, the production of such tapes would allow the facts of these terminations to come to light", Krishnamoorthi wrote. "James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!" the president tweeted, which is certainly not something to take lightly.

In his short letter to Comey, Trump made a specific point of mentioning that he "appreciated" how the FBI told him three times he was not personally under investigation over Russian Federation.

Household Debt Numbers Reach Record High
Borrowers with credit scores of 760 or higher were 60.9% of originations last quarter, versus 23.9% in the first quarter of 2007. In the first quarter, total debt was 66.9% of nominal gross domestic product versus 85.4% of GDP in the third quarter of 2008.

The FBI has never had a female director.

In an earlier tweet, the president returned to one of his favorite subjects - the media.

"The Fake Media is working overtime today!" he added.

The latest tweets are not the first time the administration has threatened to limit media access.

The White House also shifted its stance on whether Comey's termination had anything to do with the Russian Federation investigation, at first saying it was not linked. Later, Sanders said, "We want this to come to its conclusion, we want it to come to its conclusion with integrity".
