Texas Democrat Al Green is one of many Democrats saying that's obstruction of justice.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions had to recuse himself from involvement in Russia-related probes at the Justice Department because he did not tell Congress of his contacts with Kislyak in 2016. Major U.S. stock indexes tumbled the most in eight months, while the CBOE Volatility Index jumped the most since the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union.

The memo was kept secret by Comey and only shared with a handful of people close to the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

Ryan said lawmakers want to hear from Comey about "why he didn't take action at the time" if his allegation that Trump asked him to stop investigating Flynn is true.

The hearing will be held at 9:30 AM, however, Comey has yet to confirm that he will attend, Politico reports. "I hope you can let this go", Mr Trump is alleged to have told Mr Comey.

Comey associates said the president was referring to an ongoing investigation of Trump's national security adviser, Michael Flynn, who resigned a day before the conversation.

The Comey memo is the latest controversy facing Trump, whose White House staff has spent the past eight days scrambling to explain the circumstances surrounding Comey's abrupt firing, as well as the revelation on Monday that Trump may have disclosed highly classified intelligence to Russian diplomats last week. "Concerns about our national security, the rule of law, the independence of our nation's highest law enforcement agencies, are mounting in this land", Schumer said. But the central question remains: Did Trump actually make the request to Comey?

McGinley now works in the White House as Cabinet secretary and deputy assistant to the president. "I would want to see corroboration and also to know the context of the conversation". Many Democrats don't believe that's the right focus at this time. "I don't know that you could say the same about the president". Amash was also one of two Republicans, alongside North Carolina Rep. Walter Jones, who co-sponsored Democrats' legislation calling for the creation of an independent commission to continue Comey's investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation. "Any one of these facts in isolation may be problematic but may not be sufficient".

"As far as hacking, I think it was Russian Federation", he said, but then added: "It could have been others also".

There is only one week left for bettors to get in on the action of the Premier League and bet365 Sports has risen to the occasion. Gareth McAuley will not play after a thigh injury took him out of last week's loss to Chelsea.

Any investigation would pay close attention to the timeline.

The White House categorically denies the paper's account of events, which could amount to obstruction of justice. That's when, Comey later wrote, the president had asked him to ease off Flynn.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a Freedom of Information Act request on Wednesday with the FBI and Department of Justice in an effort to obtain a memo by fired FBI Director James Comey. "He was concerned", said the associate, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Former FBI director Robert Mueller has been appointed as a special counsel to oversee the Trump-Russia probe.

"We've got a lot to ask him about", Lynch said. In fact, Trump's statement is consistent with encouraging Comey to use his own judgment, with the understanding that Trump hoped Comey would come out favorably to Flynn.

"It's falling out of the trees, the evidence", he said.

Another Republican outlier, SASC Chairman John McCain, of Arizona, has called for an independent congressional commission to conduct the Russian Federation investigation and is pushing for Comey to testify before Congress in order for the nation to move on.

U.S. President Donald Trump points to the media as he walks on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC, before his departure to Groton, Conn., May 17.

Trump and congressional Republicans have an ambitious and politically fraught agenda that includes a health care overhaul needed to provide revenue for tax cuts and a 2018 budget. Chaffetz had Comey in front of the oversight committee within 48 hours of his announcement that Clinton wouldn't face criminal charges, Cummings said. It's also noteworthy that in this case that the dispute probably will not play out in a courtroom, but in a public arena and in Congress, which has the final power to prosecute the president.
