Former DOJ Spox: Comey Is Trying To Take Down Trump

Flynn, a key adviser to Trump during the presidential campaign, was dismissed not long after the inauguration when it became known that he had had Russian contacts and had misled the Trump team about them.

Trump has rejected the criticism, claiming he has the "absolute right" to share intelligence with Russian Federation so as to encourage Moscow step up their fight against terrorism. Yet U.S. allies and some members of Congress have expressed alarm. "The first was sent to former FBI Director James Comey seeking his appearance before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in both open and closed sessions".

The tweets dropped the morning after special counsel Robert Mueller picked up the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into possible connections between Russian Federation and Trump's campaign.

Trump's mood has soured and he has turned against his aides, including son-in-law Jared Kushner, describing them as "incompetent", the New York Times reports in a fascinating behind-the-scenes account. Republicans will begin to realize that their agenda is going nowhere and that their political survival depends on Trump's political demise. But Comey worked for the American people, and he seems to have understood that his ethical obligation was to stay in place, refuse the unethical request, and keep a paper trail.

Trump himself hasn't directly addressed the latest allegations that he pressured Comey to drop the Flynn investigation. Central to them is the idea of intent or bad objective, or what Trump may have been thinking when he allegedly told Comey in February that "I hope you can let this go".

Striking a defiant stance, he added: "You can't let the critics and the naysayers get in the way of your dreams". Don't give in, don't back down.

Uber threatens to fire self-driving vehicle engineer in trade secrets case
Uber's appeal to mitigate headlines is just the latest development in what has so far been an absolutely terrible year. Levandowski found the Otto self-driving company in 2016, after leaving Waymo; Otto was then acquired by Uber.

And this makes possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation all the more believable - as if the firing of FBI Director James Comey, who was directing an investigation into those ties, hadn't already taken us there. Given what we've heard about the private meeting between Trump and Comey, it's not hard to imagine a jury finding an improper or corrupt goal to these alleged comments about terminating the Flynn investigation. Putin made light of the matter at a news conference in Russian Federation, saying Moscow was ready to hand a transcript of the meeting to U.S. lawmakers if that would help reassure them.

Burr, the Senate intelligence panel's chairman, said they are awaiting word from Flynn's attorneys whether he will comply with a subpoena for his records.

Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader of the Senate, said simply, "It would be helpful to have less drama emanating from the White House".

Prosecutors in a normal case would also focus on the detail from Comey's memo that he asked the attorney general and vice president to leave the room. Really, if a freshman can refuse to spin for the White House, why can't lawmakers with years of seniority in no danger of losing their seats?

The White House on Tuesday sought to tamp down the controversy with national security adviser HR McMaster telling reporters that what the president shared with the Russian officials "was wholly appropriate to that conversation and is consistent with the routine sharing of information between the president and any leaders with whom he's engaged". If Mr. Trump had issued a clear-cut order to stop the investigation, Comey would have resigned. "Believe me. My total priority is the United States of America", Trump said.
