The Predators own a two-games-to-one lead in the Western Conference finals after scoring twice in the third period of a 2-1 win against the Anaheim Ducks.

"Gibson played great in net", said Filip Forsberg, who tied the score at 1-1 at 3:54 of the third period, "but at the same time we just kept pounding them, and I think that was the key".

The Ducks took advantage of their first power play to take a 1-0 lead with 4:25 left in the second period. This is the first time in the playoffs Rinne has given up four goals in one game. The Ducks won Games 3 and 4 of last year's first round 3-0 and 4-1, respectively, but failed when they came back and had the opportunity to close out that series in Game 6.

This is not to say that Rinne's Conn Smythe-worthy performance through the first two rounds has completely evaporated, but his peer in the other net has been by far the better netminder through the first two games of the series - Gibson stopped 43 to Rinne's 27 in Nashville's double-overtime Game 1 victory. The center has multiple points in three straight games and just tied the franchise record for most points in a postseason with 13.

Game 3 is Tuesday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Prior to Sunday, Rinne had never allowed more than three goals in any game this postseason and had only allowed 16 goals in his first 11 games.

The Predators took another lead when Forsberg cashed in a rebound of a breakaway by speedy Viktor Arvidsson, who had two assists.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Nashville Predators are so confident right now that not even having two goals in eight seconds waved off for goaltender interference can shake them. Once they coolly opened a crack in Rinne and the Nashville Predators, they started a deluge that evened the series. Meanwhile, Kesler, too, picked up a helper and won 64% of the faceoffs he took, including 10 of 15 against Johansen.

In yet another physical game, the first period was relatively uneventful with neither team scoring and only one penalty against Anaheim. The Ducks were very much in control after that, getting the tying goal from Silfverberg just 39 seconds into the second period.

The NHL playoff game between the Anaheim Ducks and Nashville Predators will be broadcast on the NBCSN and Sportsnet and CBC in Canada.

The ocean continues to the third round of the playoffs for the Stanley Cup.

The Anaheim Ducks are repeatedly driving home one point against their opponents on their run to the Western Conference finals: No lead is safe against them. Then, what we have seen over and over again since late January with this team... the Preds got back to work.

Ducks defenseman Sami Vatanen scored on a well-placed slapshot at the 19:00 mark of the first period from just below the right circle to give the Ducks momentum heading into intermission.

"Going out for the third, I think our guys stepped on the gas a little bit more", Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said. It just doesn't make sense how he plays the game. "They played hard at our net, bumping our goalie all night long, and we didn't do a good enough job getting inside".

Game three of this series is scheduled for Tuesday in Nashville.

He will need to maintain that level to give Ottawa a chance to win this series.

Clearly, knocking Johansen off his game is important for Anaheim to advance.
